2015 Exciting New Changes

The NZPA is bringing some exciting new changes to the 2015 season, which we believe will continue to move our sport forward for all skill levels.

We have worked hard to come up with a new and exciting structure that encourages new and existing players while still supporting healthy competition at the top level.

Also we are pleased to announce our 3 main sponsors which are Mezz Cues, Kamui Tips & Excellence Billiards NZL.

With our new partners there will be plenty of incentives in our events.

Format Change

  • The regional, Island and National events will now have a change of format.

  • Section play will now be played in morning and afternoon sessions, with 8 qualifiers coming from section play.

  • Post section will now be played in Double Life format.

  • Top 8 players in the event will qualify automatically into the Double Life round and will not play section play.

  • Section play players will now have a lower entry fee, while the top 8 players automatically in the double life will have to pay a higher fee.

New Restricted Events

There are 3 new restricted events being introduced that will consist of a National 8, 9 & 10-Ball.(entry fee for these events will be $40)

  • Any player who has won a NZPA ranking event cannot play restricted events.

  • If you win a restricted event you cannot play the same event the following year.

New Premier Events

We now will have 4 new Premier Events which are for the top 8 invited players in New Zealand. These events have a twofold purpose in providing experience for our players likely to be representing NZ at world events with the type of pressure they have to face overseas. Also to showcase our game to the general public wherever possible and promote the game to sponsors.

We are still working on the finer details with our sponsors and will be announcing soon an amazing opportunity for the winner of this event.

  • Each event will have 8 players only and will be played in double life format.

  • Ideally the events will be played in public locations.

  • There will be added prize money into these events.

  • There will be a promotion relegation type system for players to earn their way into the premier events through rankings.
